A visit to our Pilanseberg cousins.

Situated in an old volcano the scenery and wildlife are stunning.

Within 10 minutes of entering we spotted 2 young Brown Hyena cubs emerging from their den high on the side of a cliff. One of many firsts for the day.

We had some light rain and stunning lightning striking around the edge of the volcano while we drove deeper into the reserve. Arriving at one of the dams we came across two cheetah sitting in the grass waiting for the rain to stop. As if on que the clouds parted and we were treated to the cheetah greeting each other and playing before crossing behind the car and hunting. We watched them stalk for over half an hour before their prey stopped them and bolted for cover. A stunning sighting.

Fantastic elephant, hippo and the bride..the birds.

Violet eared waxbills, crimson breasted shrikes and many other new sightings for me.

Fantastic, fantastic hospitality and a stunning park.

Can’t wait to come back.
